As I mentioned in my earlier post I have entered the Paper.li world and created my first book in iBooks Author. Okay it's only 8 pages but I know it will be helpful to my colleagues. I even created an iTunesU course. This is just the beginning of what I am going to accomplish this summer. It's all very exciting. Please download the book, whether you read it or not so my numbers look good. Subscribe to my newsletter, for the same reason. And please add comments on this blog. I like to know people are reading. Here are the links:

I am so excited to enter this next phase of my teaching. I also downloaded Kindle's new Textbook Creator Software. Yes, it's Kindle and that is great but I have to tell you I am not as thrilled with it as iBooks Author. You have to start with a PDF document. And then everything you import has to be a PDF. And there are no templates or widgets. Apple has the edge on education as always. They understand what we need and give it to us, and they make it EASY! More importantly, they make it FUN! Writing a book, creating a movie, whatever, never seems like work. This is why students respond so well when having an iPad in their hands. Instant engagement. Here's the proof:

The students in this picture are doing the Hour of Code from studio.code.org. We were not sure if at 4th grade they would be interested in the Frozen activity but every student was completely sold, even the boys! What I found to be even more wonderful was that even the students who normally struggled in math, suddenly understood concepts like angles, degrees, and were able to problem solve on their own. The teacher commented, "You were right, they need challenges like this. This was good for me to see!"
I know that now I can change education in my school one lesson at a time, one teacher at a time. This was just the beginning!
