One of the blogs I follow is Shake Up Learning by Kasey Bell. I was surprised to learn in her recent post that she had not started blogging until 2014. I really like her avatar. I need to get one of those.
I have a blog (duh you are reading it!) but now I need to build followers and start posting regularly. I also need to start keeping a list of topics I want to write about so I don't forget. Age is a terrible thing.
The challenge I have is to get the other teachers in my school to start blogging not just themselves but with their students. Their voice matters. My voice matters. I am just starting to learn that.
That being said, in addition to my regular duties of Educational Technology Support, this year I have been asked to teach 5th grade Advanced Plus Language Arts. I already created the website and blog for my students. They will also be creating digital portfolios in Google Sites as part of my Google Innovator project. I am feeling very ambitious. My goal is to create 20 students who are expert bloggers/site creators who will go on to 6th, 7th and 8th grade and spread the knowledge and excitement. The teachers will have to follow because the students are excited and the parents are excited. I may fail. But I don't think so. I may not get as far as I would like but I am confident my students will rise to occasion. Stay tuned.
