You may notice something different on this page. Hmmm what could it be? Okay I'll tell you. It's my job description. I am moving up from a K-8 school to a high school, something I have wanted for a while. I am going back into the classroom teaching film and television production and will be the Assistant Director of the school's television "facility" (currently a trailer, more on that later). I will still be doing educational technology-that never goes away. In fact, I think there will be more of it on my plate. The most exciting part of all of this is that I will be teaching at my Alma Mater and also my daughter's with some amazing educators.
I will miss the hugs from the kindergartners. And the smiles and waves from students I have known for years. I am not sure what I will do without my best friend Ellen to talk to everyday. Who will listen to my whining? Who will I gossip with? I know it will be hard but it was time for a change. I had been at my school for 15 years and sometimes you need to take a leap in order to grow and move forward. I knew it was time.
My new adventure begins this week. If anyone has advice on how to manage high school students let me know. My understanding is that they are not much different than kindergartners. They just want you to like them and know that they matter.
