I am now completely hooked on iBooks Author. I love to write and to be able to actually publish for FREE, and include all those cool interactive widgets (I love that word) is just heaven. I am happy. I found my retirement job-I just need a bestseller. I am certain that my first iBook (FREE) will not allow me to retire but hopefully will give my colleagues at school some much needed guidance. They need to learn Google. Now. Yesterday. I put a bunch of resources in a book for them to download over the summer. It has links to online classes, websites, and blogs. It also has the instructions of how to sign up for our Google Summit in August. In case you need it here it is: OC Google Summit.
Here lies the problem I face. I do not own a Macbook. I wrote the book in our Mac lab at school. Then in order to publish and export I had to use my daughter's computer to download iTunes Producer. Therefore in order to continue to write I need a Macbook. Now. Husband I need $1200 and there is no summer school this year! See my dilemma?
And of course as soon as I hit publish I found the best resource EVER! Jeff Bradbury has a site with podcasts and just about everything else called TeacherCast. I have not even been approved by Apple and I am already looking at new revised version!
It will be worth it because this is an amazing website. I cannot wait to start listening to the podcasts-hopefully on a plane to Hawaii. It also gave me an idea-why not do my own CatholicEdTech podcasts? I am already working on the process. I think I even know what my first topic will be.
In the publishing area there is also paper.li. If you don't know about this you should. It's a FREE way to publish your own online newspaper. Mine will be out soon under the same name as this blog. I could not leave well enough alone and had to create my own background in Photoshop. I am still tweeking the size-not sure what is up with their recommended size but it doesn't work for me!
You now are asking-where are the links to her iBook, online newspaper, and even yes, my iTunesU course. Well stay tuned-they will be ready in about 2-3 business days!
